FCI’s Summer Institute to be held July 13-16 at Syracuse University
The Facilitated Communication Institute, with the support of the Syracuse University School of Education, presents the 2009 Summer Institute, “Facilitated Communication, Inclusion and Independence: Crafting a new Narrative.” The annual summer institute invites users of facilitated communication, their friends and family to grow as individuals and in a community committed to the rights of all people to be part of everyday life, to have rich and varied experiences, meaningful relationships, and an effective means of communication. The program each day will offer two keynote presentations by leading scholars and advocates in the field, including Dr. Douglas Biklen, Dr. John Hussman, Dr. Rosemary Crossley, Larry Bissonnette, Tracy Thresher, and Syracuse University student Jamie Burke. Keynote presentations will be followed by hands-on workshops, designed for each skill level of facilitated communication (FC) user. Session topics also include music, creative writing, self-advocacy, and helpful hints for “those college years.”
