Taking the Institute for Credit

The Summer Leadership Institute can either be taken as a course for graduate credit, or attendees can receive Professional Development/Attendance Credit.

CEUs/Attendance/PD Credit

Continuing Education Units, professional development credit, and attendance certificates for the Summer Leadership Institute given as non-credit transcripts through University College as of the 2016 institute. Attendees will be given a Noncredit Course Registration Form, which they must get marked each day of the institute and hand in at the end. Then at least 2 weeks afterwards, they can request a non-credit transcript online.

Graduate Credit

The Summer Leadership Institute can be taken for graduate academic credit through Syracuse University. The course involves an additional commitment in addition to the 3-day institute - readings ahead of time, classroom instruction on August 10 and 11, and a project due the week after. Please note that you must register for BOTH the Institute itself and EDA/SPE 700 to receive credit.

If you are not already registered as a student at Syracuse University, you can do so by contacting University College at 315-443-9378. University College can also assist you with questions about tuition and course credit vouchers from your district/organization.

Once registered as student (or if you are already a student at SU), please contact George Theoharis for a permission number for EDA/SPE 700, and register for the course on MySlice (it will be listed under Summer 2017/Summer Session II).

What Attendees Have to Say

“The presenters (professionals, families, and students) brought these concepts and ideas to life.”

“Micah’s presentation was thought-provoking and moving. Loved hearing about inclusion beyond K-12 and into the community.”

“Can’t say enough good things about Dan [Habib]! An amazing presenter, and he changed my view on how to tap students’ potential.”
