2 Day Introductory Workshop in Supporting Communication:
Developing Frameworks for Support and Learning to be a Facilitator

This two-day workshop provides the opportunity to learn the techniques of facilitated communication within the context of the principles common to all communication support approaches.

Spring 2019 Saturday Series

Gathering together for friendship, learning, and community practice. This is a chance for learning, fellowship, and lots of typing practice alongside other local typers and their families/facilitators.

Spring 2019 Focus on Practice

In the Focus on Practice sessions this semester we will continue with "Message Passing". Message Passing is an important skill for the typer to acquire to become a full participatory member of the communicating community, to better connect with others and become more reliable. These sessions will be comprised of 3 to 4 experienced typers and their two skilled facilitators. The same team will be working on their skills for the whole semester.
Please register ASAP as there will be a limited number of spots available for each session.
When: Monday, February 4, March 4, April 8 and May 6.
10 a.m.-12 p.m. AND 5-7 p.m.

Ongoing: Practice Room Open Hours

The ICI will continue offering our practice rooms for individuals to develop their supported typing skills. These sessions can be used for working towards independence, typing with an experienced facilitator or starting work with someone new.

Spring 2019 Skill Building Saturdays

ICI Skill Building is designed to give typers and their team of facilitaors concentrated time to practice their skills and to develop a plan for continuing practice after attending the ICi Introductory Training Workshop. The sessions are typically held once a month on Saturdays but can be done on a weekday (s) upon special request. The ICI Trainers welcome typers and their teams, to help them focus on building and maintaining rhythum, fading support, developing signals for initiation, etc.
It is recommended (but not necessary) that the typer attends with more than one facilitator (limited to 5) to get the most out of the workshop activities. Street parking is available as well as parking across the street at the SU Sheraton garage. You may bring your own food and beverages.
When: February 16, March 16 and April 20, 2019
10 a.m.-1 p.m.
Where: ICI office, 330 Huntington Hall, Syracuse, NY 13244
Fee: $60 for 1 typer and their team for a 3-hour session. This may vary if more time/days are included.

National Events

Saved by Typing: Discovery Celebrations - Indianapolis, Indiana

A monthly meeting of Indy's typers with opportunities to share experiences, celebrate friendship and enjoy company of those who would like to join. Professionals are welcome to attend to learn more about supported typing.
When: 3rd Saturday of every month from 4-6 p.m.
