With the dynamic social conditions of the world today, our social studies education curriculum is more exciting than ever. Our Social Studies Education program offers you a complete range of specialties and access to quality resources on campus. You will complete a major in one social science area such as African American studies, American studies, anthropology, economics, geography, history, policy studies, political science or sociology.

We are dedicated to advancing worldwide research in all social science areas. In addition to a social science major, you will complete a number of credits in research-based courses and other credits in courses outside of your major social science area. Social Studies Education is a dual-degree undergraduate program and you earn a Bachelor of Arts (BA) diploma granted by the College of the Arts and Sciences and the School of Education.This program meets the academic requirements for New York State initial certifiction in social studeis 7-12.
