Selected Studies in Education
Selected Studies in Education is for Syracuse University students who are interested in a career in education, and are not currently pursuing a teaching certificate. The major is designed to offer students professional preparation options from a rich selection of educational fields, such as Technology and the Media, Counseling, Adult-Education, the Study of Teaching and Learning, and the Cultural Foundations of Education.
Working with students, faculty members recommend core courses and support each student in developing a program of study which is individually tailored to their career goals or appropriate liberal arts fields. Students in the major are strongly encouraged to complete an internship or several intensive experience learning projects, coursework in research and critical inquiry, applications of technology to education and at least an introductory study of a second language,
Selected Studies in Education aspires to broaden and advance the career choices of students who seek to play a role in bettering the world by working in the private and public sector on educational issues.
