Physical Education, Health & Exercise Science
At Syracuse University, the Exercise Science Department offers the following undergraduate and accelerated graduate degree majors:
The physical education major prepares you to obtain certification as a K-12 physical education teacher. Our exciting health and exercise science major prepares you for a variety of professional certifications and a career in exercise and sport sciences fields.
Undergraduate studies in physical education or health and exercise science lead to the bachelor of science (B.S.) degree. Coursework combines liberal arts and sciences with training in either professional education or health and exercise science. We encourage students to select courses in both majors to expand their knowledge and skills, and to grow with the dynamics of these fields.
Both majors provide vital observation and hands-on experiences. Students learn and practice the latest techniques with the most modern equipment, and do so under the expert supervision of University scholars. A wide range of internships and independent study programs expose students to innovative faculty research. Students observe, study, and practice with Syracuse University's Division I coaches and athletic teams in the University's outstanding gymnasiums and laboratories and on the indoor and outdoor playing fields.
