Counseling and Human Services
Programs
The Counseling and Human Services department offers the Master of Science (M.S.) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, School Counseling, and Student Affairs Counseling. The department also offers a CAS in School Counseling, and a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in Counselor Education.
All M.S. programs prepare students for employment appropriate to the program. Studies include a broad range of theoretical and applied knowledge in counseling, skills building in individual and group counseling methods, and supervised clinical experiences. There are extensive field based and hands-on experiences within all of our programs. In addition to a common core, each concentration requires specialization courses that include content and supervised experiences relevant to the particular program of study.
Each of our Master's degree programs meets the educational requirements for national certification as a National Certified Counselor (NCC).
The School Counseling program leads to provisional certification in New York State as a school counselor.
The Clinical Mental Helath Program is a licensure-qualifying programs for the New York State license as a mental health counselor (LMHC).
Please see our Departmental Course Descriptions for more information about course offerings.
