The heart of the School of Education is its academic programs
Over its 100 year history, the school has earned a reputation for excellence in eight areas of study through originality of thought, the merging of theory with practice and commitment to excellence.
The Counseling and Human Services department prepares graduates to work in public and private agencies, universities and schools. The department offers four Master's concentrations, the C.A.S. in school counseling and a doctoral degree in counselor education. All programs are accredited by CACREP or CORE.
Cultural Foundations of Education
The Cultural Foundations of Education department is a highly demanding interdisciplinary graduate program that examines education as a fundamental human social activity occurring in both formal and informal settings. In studying systems of schooling, we emphasize the history, nature, and function of schools and their relationship to other institutions as well as to current social issues. Studies are concentrated in the history of education, philosophy of education, curriculum theory, sociology of education, gender and education, or disability studies.
The mission of the Exercise Science department is to promote the health and fitness benefits of physical activity through excellence in teaching, scholarship, and a commitment to professional service.
The Higher Education program at Syracuse University seeks to bridge the borders between theory, research, and practice through the adaptation of collaborative methods of graduate education. The program seeks to build an inclusive community of discourse about theory and practice by drawing upon the skills of faculty and student affairs professionals from across the campus and from nearby institutions of higher education.
Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation
