Admissions

What do I need to Apply?

  • Graduate teacher preparation and school leadership candidates must submit:
    • Competitive scores on the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Miller Analogy Test (MAT), or other acceptable, nationally normed admissions examination.
    • Cumulative undergraduate grade point average of at least 3.0.
    • Personal essay demonstrating candidates’ beliefs about student learning, commitment to diversity, enthusiasm for learning, willingness to foster collaboration, and ethics.
  • Initial New York State certification in childhood education, either earned or expected to be earned before beginning the program.
  • 3 letters of recommendations.
  • Official transcript(s) from all institutions attended.

What is the Application Deadline?

There is no firm application deadline. Those who wish to apply for a School of Education Scholarship should apply by January 15 for the following summer or fall semester (scholarship questions should be directed to Angela Flanagan at 315-443-4754). We also suggest this deadline for others, although applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Applications are considered for Fall, Spring or Summer, although a summer or fall start is suggested for full-time students.
