Master of Science in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6)

 

Program Overview

This program is right for you, if…

  • You are not certified in Childhood Education, but you want to be prepared to work with students in grades 1-6. Prior coursework in education is not required;
  • You have a bachelor’s degree AND want to prepare for a New York State initial teaching certification in Childhood Education while earning your Master’s degree in a 12 month, full-time program;
  • You want to study in a cutting-edge program in courses taught by research faculty specialists;
  • You want the benefit of four extensive field experiences in a variety of urban and suburban school settings with teachers and children with diverse backgrounds and abilities;
  • You want to learn as a member of a cohort of students, sharing the same courses, teaching experiences and personal growth;
  • And, you desire a program with special emphasis on working with struggling students, serving diverse student populations, using technology to promote active learning, and teachers as researchers of professional practice and builders of practical theory.
