Reflections of SU

I value my Syracuse University experience because it has forever connected me to a highly regarded academic institution known for ‘Scholarship in Action’. Of particular note are the faculty and staff in the School of Education. Without fail they go above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that their students are well-equipped with best practices to teach in the 21st century. Even when traveling abroad I have found that people are familiar with the reputation of excellence that Syracuse University maintains and, as a result, it has been a continuing source of pride for me.

Since Graduation

Since then I have been teaching ESOL in various high schools throughout Central New York including Syracuse Academy of Science and Jamesville DeWitt High School. I am currently the International Student Coordinator at Manlius Pebble Hill School. My responsibilities include ESOL teaching to intermediate and advanced proficiency students, maintenance of the SEVIS database, admissions consultation, and coordination of host family placements. I act as a liaison for international students by providing cross-cultural information about the American independent school system and advocating for them when necessary. I lead the students on various excursions that showcase unique aspects of United States culture and provide leadership and consultation as the ESOL specialist to all faculty in the school.
