The Instructional Design, Development and Evaluation (IDD&E) Department at Syracuse University offers dynamic graduate programs preparing effective practitioners and respected researchers in the broad domain of instructional systems and educational technology. For over 60 years, IDD&E has demonstrated excellence in research and development, consultation, service, and education, consistently ranking among the top programs in the country, and enjoying a diversity of students and graduates from over 50 countries throughout the world.
These programs are for professionals who have an interest in continuing education, but may niot be interested in a Master's degree.
This 60-credit C.A.S. builds upon the Master’s degree, preparing students for higher-level positions in education, industry, or academia.
Fast Track for Undergraduate Students to a MS in IDD&E
Interested in careers related to instruction and learning outside of the K-12 context? There continues to be a growing demand for instructional designers who are prepared to create educational materials for children through adult populations using a variety of delivery platforms from face-to-face instruction to e-learning. Professionals in this career path may work in business and industry, government and military, healthcare, non-for-profit, museums, Parks and Recreations, higher education, and a variety of other contexts around the world! This option is designed for highly motivated and focused Selected Studies students interested in pursuing a Master of Science in Instructional Design, Development & Evaluation (MS IDD&E) upon completion of their undergraduate degree. Students work closely with their advisor to develop a plan of study that will allow them to complete a majority of their undergraduate degree courses prior to their senior year. This provides an opportunity to take graduate level courses in your senior year.

The Masters of Science in IDD&E provides students with the opportunity to develop competencies to design, create, implement, and evaluate non-technology and technology-supported instructional solutions for a variety of educational and professional settings. This 30-credit program can be completed in just one year of full-time study (fall, spring, and summer)
The Masters of Science in Instructional Technology (MSIT) is for teachers who have completed prior studies in one or more fields of PreK-12 education and who already hold or are eligible for a New York State Initial teaching certificate in those fields.
Our MSIT Program is now streamlined! Earn your NYS certification as an Educational Technology Specialist in 30 credits, in just one year of full-time study. That year is packed with rich experiences that will help you develop the competencies to meet the growing educational technology demands for K-12 teachers. Doctor of Philosophy students in IDD&E are prepared through a rigorous set of depth and research courses, residency experiences, and research activities to become scholars and high-level practicioners in the instructional sciences.
