Derek Seward is an assistant professor in the Counseling and Human Services Department at Syracuse University. He is the Faculty Advisor for the Sigma Upsilon Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota, Counseling Academic and Professional Honor Society International. Dr. Seward's scholarly interests primarily focus on the multicultural development of mental health professionals, with a particular interest in professionals of color. He teaches courses in introduction to professional counseling, group counseling, social and cultural dimensions of counseling, practicum, counseling internship, and school counseling for college access. Dr. Seward is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York State and a National Certified Counselor.
