Why did you choose the School of Education at SU?

I was looking for a university that had a school of education and was also a large enough university where I could be involved in many different campus activities. The School of Education at SU was the perfect fit for me. I really love how small the class sizes are within the SOE and I have really gotten to know my peers and instructors. Luckily, I feel comfortable as a member of the larger SU community as well.

What has been the most valuable learning experience in your time here?

I am grateful for the experiences I have had in the classroom. I have had two field placements in schools within the Syracuse City School District. Each taught me valuable insights into teaching and leadership. The hours spent practicing, preparing, and reflecting are what make me feel prepared to enter into a career in teaching.

What are your plans for when you leave SU?

I am planning on staying at SU to pursue a master’s degree in education.

What is a favorite memory of your SU School of Education experience?

I truly enjoyed the placement I had during my sophomore year. It was the first long term field experience that I had and I felt I was able to connect well with the students and with my host teacher. The overall experience was so positive and it made me excited for future placements I would have through the SOE.
